Regrets
(Verses)
When I was young
my parents worked hard
to give us a home
with a big back yard
but all I wanted
was to cheat at cards
when I was young
When I was young
I liked drugs and booze
hangin' out
and tryin' to be cool
when I was young
I was such a fool
when I was young
(Chorus)
When I was young I took some risks
broke some hearts and took some hits
bent some laws and beat my fists against walls
when I was young
when I was young
(Verses)
But now I've spent
a lot of years
mending fences
and shedding tears
my thoughts have changed
and are clearer now
than when I was young
When I was young
what was wrong seemed right
I believed adults
were all uptight
I put too much trust
in the wrong white knights
when I was young
(Bridge)
And now that I
am old and gray
I look back on
my yesterdays
and regret the many
mistakes I made
when I was young
Yeah...when I was young...
(Chorus)
Yeah...when I was young I took some risks
broke some hearts and took some hits
bent some laws and beat my fists against walls
when I was young
when I was young
when I was young.....
Lyrics are mine except for "When I was young", that was 'borrowed' from Eric Burdon's song "When I Was Young", The tune in my head while writing this was Eric Burdon and The Animals performing "When I Was Young". Actually I've probably listened to them performing it about 50 times this morning. My lyrics were written and edited in something over 5 hours, 6 if you count the breaks I took to drink coffee and eat brownies. lol My lyrics aren't copyrighted but his are so if you 'borrow' this and try to get it copyrighted you most likely would run into a problem.

House on the Hillside
(Verse)
I sit here in my house on the hillside
and watch as the world passes by
I see lovers stroll down by the river
and it reminds me of you so I cry
(Chorus)
I have albums full of photos that remind me
of the times when our love was carefree
but all that's left now are the cold ashes
from the flame of love you had for me
(Verse)
So I sit here in my house on the hillside
and I grieve over what might have been
I still miss how it feels to be in love dear
when a sweet love affair first begins
(Bridge)
Love's like a game that you can win
but then oftentimes you lose
love can bring you sweet happiness
or leave you suffering from the blues
(Chorus)
I have albums full of photos that remind me
of the times when our love was carefree
but all that's left now are the cold ashes
from the flame of love you had for me
